Hindu Matters In Britain - For British Hindus

Jaanta Raj Play

India is bringing a spectacular cultural extravaganza ‘Jaanta Raja’ on the London stage. The story of the Hindu King Shivaji Maharaj is coming to Wembley Arena in 20 and 21 June. The spectacle includes more 150 artists, horses, camels and bullocks carts appearing on a specially designed 27ft wide multi-dimensional special stage, built in India and shipped to the UK.

Acts within the biopic give out social messages about protection of women’s honour, their empowerment, secular approach, appreciation of native culture and environmental preservation.

Warrior King Shivaji is the powerful global icon who founded the mighty Maratha Empire, established a progressive civil rule with the help of a disciplined military. His strategy including guerrilla warfare tactics had taken his powerful enemies by surprise over three hundred years ago.

The show has already been a hit in India with over a 1000 performances attracting an audience of 15 million. It has had great reviews from India’s political leaders and artists. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi sees him as an inspirational figure in Indian history saying, “Shivaji had a larger than life personality and image.”

The shows producers have even made a special request to Her Majesty, The Queen to enable the viewing of Shivaji’s sword named Jagdamba, gifted by the Maharaja of Kolhapur to HRH Prince of Wales in 1875. The sword is part of the Royal personal collection. It was last permitted to view in public in 1978.

The event is organised by Om Events Ltd based in London, supported by multiple community, arts and media organisations. Supporters include Gujarat Tourism, India. The media partners are Zee TV and Sun Rise Radio. For further information, please visit www.jaantaraja.uk
